Re: Psychedelics as healing agents
I failed poorly in this discussion, happily SunkLo (and dubunked also) came to the rescue.
Re: Psychedelics as healing agents
I'd still like someone, anyone, to name one drug that's been proven to be more effective than placebo at treating depression/anxiety and isn't addictive or unapproved.
But i definitely agree with m8son that we should put our faith in 100% pure science i just don't think studies that are conducted by the corps are 100% pure science.

Good luck finding something that isn't addictive.dubunked wrote:I'd still like someone, anyone, to name one drug that's been proven to be more effective than placebo at treating depression/anxiety and isn't addictive or unapproved.

Naw, Sunk recently is making the best arguments, because he is the only one willing to engage the ignorance. Masson is a dupe of the pharmaceuticals industry.
Re: Psychedelics as healing agents
Cant really be arsed to properly reply atm. Although by that logic the claim that traditional anti depressants are ineffective would be proven wrong by them helping one person, the claim that weed and shrooms are better would be proven wrong by one person finding the opposite and the claim of them causing horrible side effects would be proven wrong by one person not experiencing any. Also a woman died of weed the other day (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... oning.html) so by your logic is cannabis no longer safe?SunkLo wrote:It's relevant because of the claim that weed makes you lazy. All it takes is a single case of that being untrue to prove it wrong.

Re: Psychedelics as healing agents
M8son even the title doesn't claim she actually died of cannabis poisoning outright, 'Mum thought...', 'suggested she might have suffered a cardiac arrest'... etc.
Have you been trolled, or you trying to troll us? Mind you, the actual verdict is cannabis toxicity. No-one's going to argue officially so it'll stay like that fuck it.
Funny how the article repeatedly mentions she was 'a good Christian' without implying she's now in hell though...

I don't know if that's normal, but a mom of three that still smoke is a bit.. unresponsible. Being a parent will be one of the few reasons to quit with it for me.

Eve ate the apple. Mum smoked the lettuce. Straight to the devil's lair imo.
Re: Psychedelics as healing agents
Right... thats back to my point of social reasons why certain drugs are available and others aren't. You think smoking as a mother is irresponsible but they should be giving it out for anxiety or depression?Nihilism wrote:I don't know if that's normal, but a mom of three that still smoke is a bit.. unresponsible. What dya suggest prescribing for postpartum depression?

My point is not that cannabis is deadly just that the logic sunklo outlined is fallible.
Also how does the coroner saying it was cannabis toxicity not make claim that she died of cannabis toxicity outright. Obviously you can't die of *weed* it would cause death from interfering with a vital organ as would any other drug. If the cardiac arrest (if thats what it was) was caused by the weed (which is probably impossible to prove although i'm gonna go with what the coroner said) then she died from cannabis toxicity.

It is fallible as well.

Terrence McKenna was a dude, don't agree with everything he said but he was pretty free-thinking

yeah I dont agree with half the shit he says either but I gotta say he gave some of the most helpful advice on how to deal with a bad trip:
although I'd say the weed thing only applies if you smoke a bit anyway, dont have your first ever spliff while having a bad trip

Re: Psychedelics as healing agents
Here is an interesting thing for you guys...
Remember how I said I was a firm believer in the effects of LSD...
After a trip I would feel great up to almost a month after a trip...
Well - I have been going through some health stuff for awhile now...
and we've finally made some headway as far as treatment....
and guess what....
Eletriptan - a synthetic ergot...
.....has helped with the migraines sooooo much.
Now we just have to figure out what's causing it...
I know it's gonna be hormones.
I have super izan ovaries.
I'm supposed to have like - 36 babies by now....
HAHA!! My brain has got the chicken head parts in check boy!!!
I'm like - FUCK YOU BABIES!!!
with my head under a pillow because light is piercing my eyeballs
making me wanna puke...

Eletriptan - is there a black box warning with that?
