A song has an overriding theme or message, usually conveyed by words and/or a melody, but not always.
A track can just say "DANCE!", but a song needs to at least tell you why.

"Let me eat when I'm hungry, let me drink when I'm dry.
Give me dollars when I'm hard up, religion when I die."

To me, an instrumental can still be a song. just needs a particular style of creation whereas a track is just bars of music

not sure how i'd define a song tbh but a vocal tune =/= song imo. see any shit dnb/dubstep w/e tune with some random singer-songwriter found on soundcloud and extremely cheesy & vague lyrics or anything with an mc

I'm surprised most are so rigid on a song needing vocals. I'd just say a track can be a little loop/interlude bit of a music, but I wouldn't call that a song.
