while they strike and shit other companies will take over. I'm looking at this from customer's point of view. I don't care what company delivers me my precious records - as long as they're delivered to my door quick and safe, it's all good.

for example redeyerecords message here:
Postal strike info : There is a postal strike for the next 48 hours so if you are in the UK and ordering 10 or less records then please select the courier option for next day shipping, there is an extra £3.00 charge. If you are ordering over 10 records then there is no need to worry as we ship those orders by courier anyway.
who cares about Royal Mail
not really an option if you live outside the UK is it. I've got 3 packages already waiting to be send at the moment.

My mailman isn't going to be very happy when they all arrive

Word.
sapphic_beats wrote:sorry, i have more sympathy for workers who feel things are bad enough that they need to strike, than i do for someone who cannot get their records. as frustrating as waiting on your records is, in the grand scheme of things, records are a luxury. making sure your work is fair and paying livable wages...necessity.
Word x 2.

I love how "we" are now so divided and conquered rather than striking in support (ah remember the Gneral Strikes?!) we condemn the Posties who have been torturously shat on year after year. Striking is crap, no-one enjoys it, no-one gets paid. It's what you do when your union says you have no other way.

Solidarity. Bigup the striking bredren.

If you haven't received a "your package has been shipped" mail I'm afraid it's not the case. I got a couple of packages from Chemical which still aren't shipped and the oldest is from Oct 3rd.

But I'm a patient man

My pops was a Teamster / Shop Steward for the Local Sheet Metal Workers.. those dudes were so serious about it, that all they had to do was threat to strike (with all the support they had) and the bosses would buckle under the fear of having to close the shipyard.

I guess it was easier for them because it was a special trade that you couldnt hire anyone else to do.

Big up all the UNIONS.. its important you support them.. if you dont, everyone looses except the ones who can afford the loss.

Except in Scotland the shipyards shut because the intransigence of workers in the face of change meant they couldn't compete with Germany and Japan.

i.e. the world isn't black and white, not all industrial action is warranted or beneficial.

fair play jim.. that absolutely sucks. a large amount of the shipyards closed down in the states too.. nafta and the sorts. but yes.. not all action is warrented. pick and choose your battles.

this was back in the 80's to mid 90's.. my dad hasnt been in the yards for quite some time.. but i was a kid and looked up to my dad being the big union/workers rights guy.. still kinda see him that way.
