Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Had you sent those to me? And, I wrote a long response to your last pm, had it in my browser, and had to shut my machine down, and lost it. Still thinking about Cameron.
Can you edit that post and take those soundcloud widgets out, just to clean up a little?
And
Something else I just forgot.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Okay dudes, I'll be feedbacking midweek, am out of town. Maybe can get the cans on before then, but you know how it goes.
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
So are we gonna keep doing the sample flip even though not many people turned one in? If so, who wants to post the sample and break this week?

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
yeah, private tracks are for the birds. Dfault, I don't recall a flip from last week. I only remember bud turning in a flip early.
That'd make 4 flippers, pretty good turn out.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
@JBE/Twisted Psykie: crisp mixdown, great production. personal taste, but i'm not really feeling the synth that comes in at 1:36 though. on the plus side, the strings-like pad thats solo'ed in the outro is quite something.
@Bud: drumz2> personnally not feeling the first melodic synth, but then again i'm not that much intro trap so yeah, that could be a reason. i find the second one that comes in around 1:22 has a much more interesting texture.also the stabby sound you have at the very end should come in way earlier.
kellerfrau> so its trap week then, liking this one a lot more though, the main synth is sick. not sure about the hi hats, i feel they should be clearer, like more defined, not sure if this is clear, also not a big fan of the snare, it seems to me it could be hitting harder giventhe heavy nature of the track. again the track gets interesting to me at the very end, would like to hear more of this, not sure what it is, wooden/glassy xylophone whatever? it just occured to me that you could get interesting results by layering real violin sounds with that sick synth, or maybe not, idk
@zoso/zaksperak: Oo is this the tuna flip? if so congrats, because i can't recognize anything. nice one, simple yet effective, liking the crackly atmosphere in the intro and throughout, though i feel the beat could really use some more hi hats, to complement these glitches and populate the higher end of the spectrum a bit more
@Relka/Jizzman: Party Time> probably down to personal taste but i feel the snare could cut through the mix more, other than that, not much critique, ecept that maybe it could be longer, really liking the sample(s) you used, definitely nodding my head in agreement when the abrupt end came
YouCan> really liking the wonky (is it ok to say wonky in 2014?) vibe in this one, the pitched down vocal sample complements the weird piano-ish one, its perfect, can't really fault it, wouldn't mind having the stems for this one actually
entertainment> man this one's sick too, i like how you worked around the low fidelity of the sample
maybe the beat could be a bit clearer, but not sure if it wouldn't detract with the admittedly lofi vibe of the track
@nowaysj: great use of that horns sample, i'm still trying to decide if i like the high-pitched synth, i think i like the melody it plays but the timbre's not doing it for me
sounds a bit too cheap for my taste, or maybe it would work better an octave lower...
was this one done as a live session on the sp404 as well ?

Haha, everybody hating on my synths. That was just a very basic patch in Tyrell, and I LOVE it!dfaultuzr wrote:@nowaysj: great use of that horns sample, i'm still trying to decide if i like the high-pitched synth, i think i like the melody it plays but the timbre's not doing it for mesounds a bit too cheap for my taste, or maybe it would work better an octave lower...

Basis of the track was 404, drums and horns. The synths, bass and lead, were jammed out live in fl overtop of the beat.
Thank you for the ears!
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
i tend to forget we have different workflows, then i remember you're jamming stuff on the sp404 and i feel stupid saying things like "you should change such and such" as that might not always be an option for you
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Yeah, in the past I've not always been 404, definitely last 3 or 4 have been mostly or all 404. It is just a lot of fun, and challenging. You kind of have to think several steps ahead, which is not what I do regularly, usually I'm going with the flow, and due to fl's flexibility and speed I can keep up with what needs to happen there, then, at that moment, even with stuff that has been baked into audio. But with the 404, it is like chess, you have to be several moves ahead to know how the pieces are going to fit together. It is good for me to be working like that. My skills on the 404 are minimal but growing.
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
So I'm assuming we're just not doing a flip this week since it's already wednesday?

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
i put that sample pack for download in a sec
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I'm down for using a pack this week, but when we had initially discussed the idea in the beat maker thread, we said we wanted to do it kind of traditional hip hop style. Use a break, and flip an already made tune.
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Agree. I would have volunteered to provide a tune and break, but just got back in town and don't think I'll make it to my pc until 10pm tonight, earliest, and by that point I may be making it to my bed instead.
But, I just returned with 10 discount soul lp's, so I'll have minimum 10 weeks worth of flips
and probably more like 120 weeks.
