Is it narcissistic to enjoy your own music?
Because I can almost defo say that my own music is my favourite music.
Obviously its not objectively better than anything else, I just make music that I like to listen to.
Opinions?

if you dont like what you make, whats the point of making it?
really the only reason i can see. unless you're talking about chatting up your own tunes as being the greatest thing to ever be made, well, thats a different story innit.

Haha yeah it is a good thing that you like your own music. I think it is a sign that you are being true to your self and making what you like rather than what you think others will like. I like to listen to my early tracks that I made because the technical side of them totally blow so it helps me measure how much I am learning. It is almost like thinking back on childhood...I hear my work and think "man, I was so innocent" in a sense that I was just focusing on cool beats rather than trying to compete with pro pruduction techniques.

No way, I make what I like and generally I like what I make.

Nah definitely not imo. I make what I want to hear actually don't even care if anyone else likes it. It's all just for my own entertainment anyway.
Re: Is it narcissistic to enjoy your own music?
I don't now. I usually like what I make while I'm making it. But Once I finish it I have a hard time listening to it without questioning every second of it.

You're an artist, if you aren't narcissistic, you're doing something wrong.

I have to like it before I'll release it.
That being said, I've released 3 songs in the past 2 years of working to get my production/style up to par. I still have a lil' ways to go.

I think if you enjoy your own music that's great and your song was a success, just having a really big ego annoys me if you over do it. However as I have learned through a few industry artist, BE YOUR BIGGEST CRITIC! Enjoy your music, but question how you can make it the most beautiful thing ever

I think narcissism is a bit extreme for just liking your own stuff, there's more to it than that

I agree... I like listening to my music to critique what I'm doing... getting "invested" in a project can sometimes blind you to some of your mistakes so I find having some time away from a tune can allow for a more subjective analysis of a track later.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Literally I listen to my own tunes and they give me chills, I skank around my room to them, and listening to my music makes me proud of myself haha
Guess I can count myself lucky considering bare people never even make a tune they are happy with!

lol that's a bit egoistic. i wouldnt go as far as saying my own music is my favourite music. even if it's good.

Cant really enjoy my finished bits, Always analyzing the individual parts too much to enjoy it as a whole tbf
Re: Is it narcissistic to enjoy your own music?
I wouldnt say listening to my own music gives me chills, but its not really chill inducing music anyway, but i like it to an extent, sometimes by the time I have finished it I am a bit bored of it, and I think if it gets a not so good response or summat that kinda makes me like it less I think. And also knowing how it has been done kinda makes me like it less, as in some tunes you can listen to and be like 'wow this is amazing, how is it even done, how did they come up with those ideas'.

Surely you should like and hate your music. Personally I make music for myself. If people like it great, if not I wont lose any sleep over it.
