I'd hate to have to agonise over whether I should like a tune like some of you dudes must do.
But isn't image what most people on here use to differentiate between brostep and dubstep?
I've been screamed at countless times for insisting that the difference is technical and that based on a definition of half time music with mid range wubs intended for dancefloor functionality as opposed to listenability, for lack of a better word, a lot of tear-out dubstep is brostep. Based on that definition, I can enjoy both because of the vibe they give me, but some people don't see it that way and say that mid-range heavy stuff that's made by people they rate isn't brostep, when it realistically is imo.

Like, I first heard of Skrillex through a Noisia remix that was given out as a free download. I liked it, and when I saw a picture of skrillex I was like "what the fuck?!? he must make the most pussy whiny bitch emo music" and looked it up for a laugh. Turned out Noisia stole half their basslines from the orginial and I said "fair play, he did what Noisia did better, and first".

I hate to narrow my tastes down the way I'm about to, but I think that what I relate to in the majority of the music I appreciate is the vibe and a lot of music doesn't even vibe, or at least not to me, so it can be challenging for me to listen to. I think that when I miss out on the vibe of the track I give way to judgement.

Same thing cropped up when I first heard James Blake. I fucking hated, and probably still hate, Limit to Your Love when my sister played it to me, I felt that it was trying too hard to sound like dubstep when that aspect didn't compliment the track at all, but when I played some of his earlier stuff it made sense to me, though it was a little more complex than I was used to at the time, and it made his vocal stuff make a lot more sense because I could pick apart the musicality of it and appreciate it's construction. The first drop on Limit to Your Love still makes me cringe tbh, second section with the rides isn't bad though.

The difference between dubstep and brostep is none of what you said it was there but TBH:

Well that's what used to be said whenever you asked what brostep was.
Considering your expressed opinions in the brostep nostalgia thread, I don't doubt that you're one of the nitpickers.

Soundcloud

Or does the fact that it came out on Medi justify how boring it is otherwise?

yep still good and great voice, unlike yung lean.

Hope this is the right thread.
Just watched that Spooky Black video properly, and the way he laughs/smiles from 3:53 to the end suggests it's fake imo
