Yeah, so, I tried reddit but didn't get anything that worked.
In the Fruity Parametric EQ 2 thats in fl studio, you can press the individual bands, and choose what type of filter they should be (bandpass, lp, hp etc).
This function is really neat, and I'm wondering if there is A SINGLE equalizer in AU format that can do this? I use FL for sound design sometimes, but logic is what I use 99% of the time, and the EQ in logic only has a lp, a hp, a low shelf, a high shelf, and then the rest of the bands are those usual ones... I think they're called "bell" shapes? Anyway, the ones that can be both notches and peaks. The bands can not be changed, which is annoying in some situations.
I've found some EQ's that can change types, but they have been lacking some types, most primarily BANDPASS. Can't even find a regular graphic eq with a bandpass, only filters but that's not what I'm looking for, I'm looking for a graphic equalizer.
If anyone knows this that would be amazing, have not found a single thing.
Oh, I've tried some of the usual suspects like Fabfilter Pro Q (no bandpass), DMG Eqbullibubum, iZotope Ozone EQ, and some others.

I don't see the need to be able to switch curve types on each band.
A high pass, a low shelf, a few peaks, a high shelf, a low pass and you can pretty much do anything. Don't get suckered into bells and whistles.

Pretty sure Voxengo GlissEQ has this.

Thing is, automating a bandpass is annoying as fuck when you have to use a lp + a hp instead of just using a bandpass. It can't be that hard to program, and it's a simple function, I just don't see why there aren't ANY eq's with this function, except for the parametric 2 one in FL. That's all!nowaysj wrote:I don't see the need to be able to switch curve types on each band.

WOAH MAN! This looks like it might actually be it. Fragments you're my man, first you helped me with all the gear stuff and now (maybe) this. I owe you big time.fragments wrote:Pretty sure Voxengo GlissEQ has this.
Gonna look more at this tomorrow and see if it's actually right but the user manual said it includes basically every filter type you need. Also has some cool functions. Voxengo for life!

I feel you, if I'm automating sweeps and stuff I usually use a dedicated filter vst, rather than a dedicated eq. Either way, enjoy Gliss.bouncingfish wrote:Thing is, automating a bandpass is annoying as fuck when you have to use a lp + a hp instead of just using a bandpass. Haha. Right on man. I am not trying to keep secrets here..I would follow the advice Nowasj gave you, don't get caught up in bells and whistles...but for the money GlissEQ includes a lot of awesome features. I originally bought it because it lets you see the EQ curve of up to 8 (?) other instances of GlissEQ in the same project all layered on top of each other. Makes doing surgical EQ work really easy.bouncingfish wrote:

That is cool, didn't know it let you do that. I've had this very idea before, thinking how to compensate for my dumb ears.fragments wrote:it lets you see the EQ curve of up to 8 (?) other instances of GlissEQ in the same project all layered on top of each other. Should have done patented that shit son! Yea. It helped me a ton learning to EQ. Now I don't use it much as it kind of trained my ears : )

Re: So, there REALLY isn't an au eq like the Parametric EQ 2
I'm at that like first level of eq, like the high pass level
Occasionally a push or a pull here or there, but it is really beyond me, especially when you're talking about 20/30 channels.
Re: So, there REALLY isn't an au eq like the Parametric EQ 2
Less is more as far as EQ goes. If you select samples and design sounds w EQ in mind you shouldnt need a ton.I am no expert tho.nowaysj wrote:I'm at that like first level of eq, like the high pass levelOccasionally a push or a pull here or there, but it is really beyond me, especially when you're talking about 20/30 channels.

Yeah, that is my theory, so far, and I'm sticking to it. Would like to get to that level where I can just bring out the sweetness of each sound, and have it sit in it's own unique space... honestly, maybe when I get some room treatment and better monitors. Until then, it is all rock and roll.
Re: So, there REALLY isn't an au eq like the Parametric EQ 2
Pretty much ditto. I feel like my listening environment is holding back my mixes as much as anything at this point. But since I have upgraded headphones things have gotten a lot better. That was well worth the money.nowaysj wrote:Yeah, that is my theory, so far, and I'm sticking to it. Yeah, monitoring is like your health. Like you just want it, without having to spend for it, you want to spend/do all the neat things, but you need to get your fundamentals in order before you can really do the interesting stuff.
This summer I am going to rotate my studio 90 degrees, I think it will improve my my monitoring, but will leave my back to the door, which on a psychic/feng shui level is not good for me. Maybe I'll get a mirror.

LOL. That is hilarious...I have always setup my studio so my back is not to the door...nowaysj wrote:Yeah, monitoring is like your health.
