That cant be true, why do fish swim away from predators when they are being hunted then. Surely if they cant feel pain they would just stay mobile and get eaten.

they most likely dont feel pain in the same way we do yeah, but there's some evidence to show that they may have other mechanisms for it. imo its not really conclusive either way

responding to threatening stimulus doesnt have to come from pain, they swim away because fish that evolved to swim away from predators survive more than those that dont

Nah, that wasn't the point. I was just being a smartass
Also, murder and torture aren't manmade lol. Cats, for instance, do both all the time.

i went diving at a sea lion colony once, that was one of the greatest things ive ever done tbh

theyre like dogs, sat down at 40ft on the sandy bottom and they'd come down to get petted or to play with bubbles.

theyre also the only other mammal with a sense for rhythm (sea lions r truheads)
In 2011, a California sea lion named "Ronan" was recorded bobbing its head in synchronization to musical rhythms.[36] This "rhythmic entrainment" was previously seen only in humans, parrots and other birds possessing vocal mimicry
