Favorite Multiband Distortion Techniques on Dubstep Basses

Post by Dadunn1700 » Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:40 pm

I own and use Trash 2. Would just like to see how our more knowledgable users apply plugins like Trash/Ohmicide to their basses. For Trash 2 in particular....what are your fav distortion types? What are your fav distortion types for each band on multiband distortion? When do you use multiband distortion over single band? If anyone has any similar questions feel free to add to the ones I've listed.
It's hard to find good info on this topic (at least for me anyway)

I admit asking what ur fav distortion type is for specific bands was stupid. But surely the ppl that use trash 2 a lot have found certain distortion types that they keep going back to.

Feel a bit sorry because nobody replied. Tbh I never know what I want when distorting, which is why I just scroll through the different things until I find one that fits. The Cracked Actor one works great on some stuff, sounds terrible on other stuff but you know. Also, having really brutal distortion and then using the filters to remove the highest his creates a squishy sound, mess with it. It's really great.

The Ableton Multi-Band Compressor preset OTT (also comes as a free VST) is a staple for most producers - it gives a nice distorted high end.

Yeah, I don't have ableton live but I got that Xfer Records OTT which is supposed to be the same thing, I really love that. Sounds sick!
