The decision and dilemmas thread

As the title.

Should I go back to uni? I need a direction in my life but feel that 3 years is a big sacrifice not to get disillusioned along the way. I'm 27 now. I know there are students even older but I have "been there and done that" more than the average 19 year old with regards to uni. Thoughts?

Do it. The first time I went to uni I did Music but dropped out half way through. I took a two year gap, then went back and did Professional Sound and Video. It feels great when you graduate. If you dont you could regret it. Just dont think there will be loads of job opportunities when you graduate, because there wont. What do you want to study?

Youth and Community Work perhaps. Or maybe Sociology.

No but I'm not applying for a social work degree.

What, sociology? Nah one is the study of society whilst the other is a lot more vocation-based.

If you mean Youth and Community Work it has elements of social work I guess but not quite the same either,

I'd need to read the course spec more if I was to apply tbh but like I say it's pretty vocational. I already volunteer with a community project and am looking into teaching kids electronic music (just got to make a phone call there). I'm guessing it will be similar.

polyamoury. I have lots of small managable relationships but at some point I see them all spread there wings and land comfortably in monogamy. happy and unharassed by an amicable (non) seperation best foot forward to bigger better things. always leaves me a little sad though. those are the rules of the games though.

my ex girlfriend and my ex wife accidently sat next to each other on dates. I chuckled at that. theyd be good friends there good people.

last night my ex stayed. I asked her too. my heads been pecked. she's seeing someone else (im happy for her) part of me knows that if I turned round and said "stay with me" she probably would. I dont know if thats what I a hundred percent want though I am very fond of her company and affection (and other tings). shes just started her reationship and I know that means the end of a lot between me and her. but I know that whats shes looking for I cant offer her and the persons shes met has the same ideas about relationships as her.

so dilemma: my life style choice has its consequences.

Unless you have a burning desire to learn a certain subject or get into a certain industry that requires it, I would probably give Uni a miss. Although you'll get to (hopefully) ride out the next few years of high unemployment in education, you'll also come out with a shit load of debt and less time to pay it back than most people.

Train yourself in something at home (IT's always an easy shout, but there are literally endless options), get a job and work hard, that's what I did when I left school. I've never regretted not going to Uni.

Most kids who spend enough time on the internet to frequent this place aren't quite on his level tbh.
