Cubase 5 Problem - Shift key to 'hold' automation value?

Post by Dub_Fiend » Wed May 14, 2014 11:33 am

Hey all,

A bit stuck for this because I don't know what the term is called exactly, but recently I had to reinstall Cubase 5 because I got an SSD for my OS and I'm encountering an issue;

I used to be able to open an Automation Lane on any VST/Audio channel, select an automation point and then hold the Shift key to drag that value along the timeline without moving the point vertically but I can't seem to do that anymore and I'm not sure what I'm missing... I don't remember editing anything to make this occur before but I know it's a setting somewhere I just can't figure out where exactly... Can anyone help a brother out? There's a Big Up in it for you if you can :6:

I never use the shift key, actually first time i have heard you could do that. After the reinstall did you update it to version 5.5.3?

Also go the preferences menu, see if its been unchecked.

Yeah, I found it out just through fiddling about before and it's been a godsend. It's definitely updated to 5.5.3, just checked in the Help part so I don't think it's a software issue...

My issue is, where am I looking in the options? Because I don't know whether it's under Key Commands or Preferences, and then whether it's in MIDI or Editing or if there's an Automation bit I'm missing?

Just messed about with my volume automation. For me its not the Shift key that does that.
Its the 'Ctrl' key that does it.
