Knives can be just as damaging, don't kid yourself. There was a guy at my old uni who recently just went to the end of semester parties and shanked 5 people to death.

I've been held up at both gun and knife point and I can tell you that its not about what they have in their hand, its about what they want.

ive been held up at gun point and knifepoint as well so im aware. but to argue someone isnt less dangerous with a knife than a gun then you are being silly.
but i do realise that making guns illegal or less available wont solve the problem

i didnt say it was the solution to the problem, its blatantly apparent that there are other deep rooted factors at hand

From what I can work out, people snap all over the world for all kinds of reasons. Occasionally, humans explode and the shrapnel gets some bystanders. The best 'control' aside from an impossibly utopian society might be to limit the sort of killing power the normal person has at their disposal.
