Originals Vs Remixs

Post by Sexual_Chocolate » Sun May 25, 2014 7:11 am

sometimes you get a good tune thats just taken to the next level, but then sometimes it goes in the complete fucking opposite direction, and you get a shitter of a tune.

been listening to a lot of old mixes (pre 07) and some of the tunes are well ard, both remixs and origis.

wondering what the ninjas opinions are on this

eg

this is miles better than the caspa remix

discuss. or dont. whatever lol.

off the top of my head:

goth trad - far east assassin vs distance remix. both good imo
i like the distance remix of dead man walking, but the og bangs too
distance - fallen vs vex'd remix
distance - vs vs pinch remix
pinch - one life one source vs distance remix. remix is 1000x better tho imo
shackleton - you bring me down vs peverelist remix
gatekeeper - tomb vs applebim & gatekeeper vip
appleblim - vansan vs gatekeeper remix. not sure which one i like the most
mala - changes vs distance remix
pinch - punisher. og is better than other versions imo
starkey - miracles vs jamie vex'd remix. og is great but doesn't even touch the remix
untold - walk through walls vs lv remix. og is far better
trg - put you down / broken heart vs remixes. all great

I actually prefer the caspa remix of way of the dub. in general i don't like remixes. just make your own shit imo if you're gonna put effort into music. unless it's taking something from a completely different genre eg skream's in for the kill remix.

some remixes I prefer over the origes:

Loefah - 3rd Choice
Loefah - Candyfloss
Loefah - I

Coki - Weh Dem a Do
Coki - Badman Place
Dmz - Cay's Crays

Skream - Night Vision
Skream - Almighty Father
Skream - Ancient Memories
Skream - The Soul

Cluekid - Caan Eat Mi Out
Jack Sparrow - Spry Sinister
Commodo - Free Focus
Truth - Fuckin' Problems
Radikal Guru - Share the Flame
Truth - Devil's Hands
Dubtek - Lost Time

Silkie - Filth: don't prefer it to the orig but it's okay. wasn't much of a fan until I heard it on a system. it actually goes off.

personally (in terms of dubstep anyway) I prefer when remixes give a completely different vibe compared to the original rather than essentially the same tune with a few changes, for example:

Night Vision vs Skream remix
I vs Loefah remix
Changes vs Distance remix
Crack Bong vs Loefah remix

Etc...
