How to make something like this?

Post by Ineqa » Wed May 28, 2014 3:12 am

Does anyone have any idea on where to start on making something like this in FL 11?
I found a saxophone vst called DKS Saxophone and I can come close to the sound, but my saxophone just doesn't sound nearly as nice as his. Help?

Its sounds more like a muted trumpet than a sax

It's most defenitely a muted trumpet, you can tell by the raspy metallic harmonics that ring out when he plays louder. The only way to really get good sounds like this is through sample packs. If you have Native Instruments "Kontakt" I'm sure they make trumpet samplers. and there HAS to be some muted trumpet samples out there to use.

Indeed, Kontakt comes with a muted trumpet patch, or at least Komplete does. Still sounds like a sampled trumpet, but if that's what you're looking for...
