Council tax is already banded based on the value of the house in 1991.

It's a series of recommendations from an advisory board. The UK government is well within its rights to ignore them completely.

did not know that. not sure it makes sense tho. council tax is for services, surely services to a nice house cost the same as to the less nice one down the street?

Same way getting a cast put on a broken leg costs the NHS the same whether you're unemployed or a millionaire, but one group still has to pay more NI. Not gonna get into a flat tax/tax the rich more debate here though, I know better

Nah man fair enough, I understand national insurance as a % of salary but didn't know council tax was based on house value. When I get rich imma live in a 1 bed flat and buy loads of cool shit. Bun getting a big house if they're gonna rinse me

I only found out cos I'm in the middle of a house buy, I thought it was a flat rate before.

For reference, here's the tax bands for Birmz and here's the values that dictate the bands.

pahahha why even bother putting in A. no way in hell you're getting a house in birmingham for £40k. Surely 90% of houses are in the E-G category?

Remember, that was the value of the house in 1991! I think my house is a band E, and it's well above even the higher end of that band now.

its a disgrace that we've got those cretins representing us in the EU

RKM wrote:cannae believe ukip won
ukip got in the same reason sizan got in pre wwii

propaganda b2b taking advantage of shit economic situation to generate hype and hatred blablabla

probs also a lot to do with the fact a large portion of this country is overtly xenophobic and racist

and everyone is thick/lazy as fuck and cant take the time to read up about other parties and find that a lot of them had some similar policies but are less shit in general

Why are they cretins? because they share different opinions to you?

How is it a disgrace? Perhaps it is democracy you disagree with
