Rhodes Piano / Harp / Guitar type of sound?

Post by MassAphekt » Tue Jun 03, 2014 8:33 am

Hey guys, I've been wondering for a long time now on where did pharrell get this type of instrument? Like what is it to be exactly? It sounds like a rhodes piano but it has some guitar/harp characteristics to it...It's gotta be my favorite instrument ever, I would love to make music using this exact instrument..

Examples:

Sounds comes in at around 0:12-0:13 it's the main hook chord or something

Heard through out the song (my favorite song of all time)

Heard through out the whole song as well, it's that rhodes piano type of sound

Heard through out the song too.

I already have a rhodes instrument on kontakt but it doesn't sound as amazing as these tracks, I'm wondering if there are any great vsts or kontakt libraries that sound exactly as this? It has like a plucky guitar/harp characteristic to it as well, it's confusing me like crazy

Cheers :h:

The first one's guitar, the others are synthesised electric piano sounds.

EDIT: You could do it with additive synthesis.

If you have Kontakt 5 : http://purgatorycreek.com/

Its also how you're playing and what you're playing.

Rhodes is very velocity sensitive.
