I have a Sony Vaio Pro 13. Cost me a small fortune and the idea was to use it for software development, but it's so small that it's difficult. So I set it up over my midi piano (yes, a real midi piano, not a bog standard controller). I wanted to be able to just sit at the piano and jam without going to the studio.
I installed Live 9 on it and it was running fine, but after about 4 Operators I started to see the CPU bar in Abelton show 100%.
Now, I know this is a notebook, but this is a powerful notebook compared to others. It has 4GB ram and an i5 processor. About the same as a 2012 MacBook Air - which Abelton works just fine on. So I have a feeling this isn't an issue with the hardware.
What could cause this? I am using the ASIO driver, which I believe may be the culprit. On the other hand it might well be Windows 8. But I wanted to get some opinions on this and see if others have experienced this.
Abelton Live 9 100% CPU

Re: Abelton Live 9 100% CPU
Plugged my IO|2 interface in, and it's now hovering at 47% I can live with that, but I'm certain it should have better performance than that.

What version of Windows 8? RT doesn't run Live.
What version of live? 9.what and are you running a legit version?
Have you tried another DAW? Thats how you will see if its a driver issue.

It's Windows 8.1 I believe. I have the Live 9 Suite, latest one from the site. I have the disks, but this computer don't have a disk drive so I installed it from the account on the Live site. It's a legit version yes. I haven't tried another DAW on the machine because I only own Live.
