i heard two people arguing about the iraq war and the whole WMD thing yesterday, and the pro-military person made an argument i've never heard before. has anyone heard anything about this? apparently iraq had a nuclear power plant or a nuclear reactor or something (they weren't very specific) in the middle of the desert, far from the coast or any big cities. they said that since iraq was sitting on so much free oil, and since the power plant was not in a good location for supplying power (far from the big cities), it was obviously being used for bad reasons, because if it was truly being used for energy purposes, then iraq would have just used their oil and/or they would have put the power plant near a big city.

i've done some research and i can't even find anything about a power plant in iraq. is this just a complete lie?


i always thought the main concern with "WMDs" was actually chemical weapons, not nuclear bombs, but this person said that at the time (i wasn't really old enough to pay attention), most of the 'talk' was about nuclear weapons. sounds like a bunch of bs to me.

i have heard of satellite images that show saddam shipping a bunch of weapons to syria while they were waiting for the UN inspectors to come in & so the reason they found none was that they were in syria
