Fucking stupid idea. Let people smoke if they want to, they already foot the NHS bill + extra. All it'll do is further increase the black market in cigs.

Seems like a ridiculous idea, you go into a shop of legal age to buy cigarettes, you're 22, but were born in 2002 so you can't have them, WHAT?!

They shouldn't ban it, but they should put out a more aggressive anti-smoking campaign. There are no benefits to smoking and it is in the interest to a society that has tax paid health care to try and reduce the amount of people needing to use the system.

also anti smoking campaigns are like 99.999999% pointless

there's a massive market for black market cigs in the UK cos abroad is so cheap, this would only increase that 1000x

hmm yh but there isn't any real advantage to smoking cigarettes so i think it's different to weed. personally i don't think i would have started smoking if i couldn't have just gone to a dodgy corner shop and buy cigarettes whenever i wanted

im normally massively against the stupid 'war on drugs'... but with soemthing like smoking which kills so many ppl, its a completely different story imo. people have too little self control to be responsible for themselves

I think that if people live longer then the government has more time to tax the individual through other taxes, thus counterbalancing the lack of tobacco tax revenue.

plus weed may be psychologically addictive but tobacco is like insanely physically addictive

and the addiction doesnt really ever 'go away' once u start it
