I don't really get what all the people sharing photos talking about all the evicted people in brazil on facebook are trying to achieve. Do they really think they will change something by doing it? Or is it, as i suspect, a self righteous attempt to try and show everyone how much they care about these poor people?

im sure it achieves more than not sharing the image, spreading awareness leads onto other things

also i re-posted one mainly because i dont like football and what its come to represent, and i want everyone else to feel at least slightly guilty or bad

Just calls you out on the fact that phenomena which can be described and explained by and as 'egostroking' aren't pointless because there is a point to egostroking.

IMO, by the time you behave socially purely to stroke your own ego you may as well not behave at all.

it would be more effective if something like that was attached to the image instead of just "LOOK HOW BAD THIS IS ):<"

bu t i dont see how ppl being made aware of travesties like that is ever a bad thing
