1. Think of a song that has the kind of sound you're looking for in it
2. Sample it

It really is trivially easy to do in the age of computer-based production, and the internet can provide you with basically any piece of media you can think of on demand. It doesn't take any longer than posting on a message board.

Can someone hook me up with some joyful samples? Like not kids playing or fun sounding muisc none of that circus shit just straight up happy? Like from a song except not from instruments, no ambience though. No words or cinema either, its so tacky to sample that stuff - like put some effort in geez

Soundcloud

i just realized the first one is kinda bad example cause it's synth based apart from those atmospheric things in the beginning

but the second one is straight up sample-based

Pianos in the 2nd track?

That 1 note?
I don't even think that's a piano.
If it is, it's just a normal note with a large reverb on.
Just run a piano note through some impulse responses to find the right feel and eq it to suite with a bit of saturation.

It's really just a hit that's been saturated and reverbed imo.

Go get a sample of a grand piano recorded in a performance hall or run a grand piano through a large hall impulse.

lol i just want musical samples like samples cut out of songs or performances that sound really dark.. no ambience, no atonal stuff, movie shit or anything. just ominous sounding music chopped up as nice samples. that's all i'm looking for
Wouldn't it be more rewarding and perhaps entertaining if you found the samples yourself? Sorry but this is just laziness imo

Edit - sorry didn't read the whole thread when posting this. It's nice that you like the Silent Hill soundtrack that was recommended. However I still think it's 100xmore fun to find a sample source all by yourself :)
