"chirping" in ATH m50's
So I busted out my ath m50's today for the first time in awhile, and nothing was really running that loud, but there was this high pitched noise that I can only really describe as a "chirping" sound when I would play anything bassy. I could hear it with higher frequency content sounds, but it wasn't as prominent. Anybody know why/what this is?

Yeah could very well be a loose part of the driver. So a mechanical problem caused by the coil passing maximum excursion.
Is it possible to open the ear cups you think?

I'll check and see what's up when I get home whether or not I can open them up. If it is something loose, you think it's an easy fix?

I know it's soon to do this, but DSF has been dieing off a little recently (

) so I feel a bump is appropriate. My judgement could be wrong though...... But if it's right (which I really believe it is)

Just got home this morning, googled it, and it looks like you can get inside them. It seems like a pain in the ass, but I'm willing to try and fix them myself.

Yeah that'd be awesome. It's usually a mechanical problem, so it's quite probably fixable.
The shitty thing is the scale of it. If you have electronics/hi-fi shop around, you can try them as well.
Friend of mine had his cans fixed at one of those.
