Will cop that later mate! Nice one
Also, ever thought of using one of those extreme timestretcher plug-ins/programs and stretching out some menacing samples/stabs? That would make some interesting ambient noise.

as dub fiend said, anything can be sinister with a bit of stretch and some reverb. you can use a two bar drum break for ambience under a tune. stretch it out to 5mins or whatever, run it through some reverb, maybe a bit of chorus and some like flange to give it movement, then layer under the track and sidechain/eq.
could even chop it up and drop some slices into an mpc style setup (hardware or vst) then can 'play' the darkness to give it a bit of a rhythmic feel.

this could be of some relevance for those wishing to make dark atmospheric sounds:

hit your bass oneshot with spectral drone maker a few times and suddenly you have an epic 35 second atmosphere
sadly for mac only

Honestly its probably easier to just find dark sounds on your own. Sometimes I'll just hop on YouTube and find some good horror movie clips or sci fi clips. Grab the audio from those and change everything to make it unique. Add reverb, or any other effects, maybe even resample. Then boom you just made your own dark sample instead of spending days downloading a sample pack. =p

i dont now if u still have 56k in wherever deep africa u from but it takes like under a minute to download a sample pack on my connection
it's ridiculous to suggest that it's easier to go on youtube and look through potentially hundreds of videos than downloading a sample pack or something

Well you could get the same "dark" samples everyone else runs into when they google "dark dubstep samples" or similar...or you could take them from something that inspires you musically or visually or artistically. It's not hard to find samples, and its just as easy to make your own. Don't see whats so ridiculous about that...
