It's funny seeing how WEIRD ( Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic) a lot of people are being about this.

I teach Japanese teenagers and they're characterised in their culture as passive and placid. It's fucking frustrating sometimes because many of them literally cannot think for themselves, they expect to be spoon-fed and be tested by repetition which is not what learning a language or debating is about. They're the opposite of British kids, almost. They do exactly what their parents and teachers tell them to the point of being frozen in panic if they don't have explicit guidance. They also deliberately copy each other to the point of being indistinguishable.

That's their culture though. Loads of you are now going to rip on it for whatever reason but please remember what you think of as important is still just your subjective and arbitrary values. I know of the benefits and disadvantages of what they do, you can't have everything though so make a choice and deal with it.

If I have kids here they will be encouraged to go to university in a different contry etc, but until then it's quite a good place for their welfare enough to balance out the more ridiculous aspects of the education system...

But surely, if you love your child, you want them to develop into socially conscious adults?
of course

This is about control issues again….

If you aren't interested in knowing your child...
- then you shouldn't have them…

They are completely unique mutations…
not masterfully controlled creations…

That being said - fill their heads + worlds with the good stuff
and then sit back, chill - and watch how they use it…

They are like - blind boxes…guaranteed to be surprising.

That being said….

I think Cheris Crocker got a pretty large dose of his mother…
