GV1 & SPK - Dynasty Warrior (UK HH/HH/Grime)

Post by GV1 » Sun Apr 27, 2014 5:17 pm

A track I've been working on over the weekend with my younger brother. He's into grime, so we worked on something around that genre.

not a big fan of the vocal, but everything else is mint. Snare could be punchier. I followed you on the cloud, excited to hear more.
New 8-bar grime 4/20 tune:

Nice. That snare though yeah, not bad but adding a bit of crack to it with compression+EQ or subtle asymmetric clipping/distortion (e.g. valve compressor) and some ping-pong delay in to reverb might sound sweet (or even adding a slow auto-pan effect before the delay in the aux bus so you get the echos popping out across the field).

Would sound good with vocals on I reckon anyway

Smooth, has a good sound but a bit American Rap-ish aside from the synths.

It's just the 808 and arrangement that makes it sound American, makes me think of hardcore (that piano and spacey pad) and grime otherwise. I just came back for a reload big up

Ha thanks bud :) We still didn't get this mixed and mastered. One for the portfolio I guess.

its a nice beat man. i like it very spacy and trance ish but in a nice way. nice smooth synths :). I think ur snare sounded fine but i am only listening on lappy speakers. maybe more verb would work in this context.
