I haven't read these kinds of stories, but glad that they report this. He was a celebrity within our culture, so was notable. Many people in our culture are very casual about their drug use, and this kind of thing, imo, is a good reminder, or a wake up that even a casual usage can have significant consequences.

Yeah, do you think most heroin users start as addicts or is it more likely they start using recreationally.

There are functioning addicts and I know of at least one person that has used heroin occasionally for over 20 years.
