@ lenham
is recentish and good rnb imo
http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/TyDollaSign/mixtape/
but the best album back then is without a doubt brandys full moon imo. it's just ridiculous production standards, catchy melodies and sort of the style timbaland took on on aaliyah and some of missys albums, like highly syncopated drums and almost junglist.

I'm not using slang on twitter I don't say in real life. I'm turning up to dj wearing t shirts for black metal bands and have mutton chops for fuck's sake. I mean there's a difference between being into music that has nothing to do with your life style and making references to a religion you aren't a part of. Like you can sample a reggae or dub track in a track where it makes sense or whatever as an element in your tune but having random Rastafarian speech samples before a drop into some generic dungeon tune and constantly referencing religious elements that you aren't remotely involved in can just feel really corny.DiegoSapiens wrote:I thought you liked grimewolf89 wrote:I don't get why people use Jah samples and shit so much. Like you wouldn't put random samples about Jesus in your tunes when not religious thinking it sounds cool. It's like reggae gets a pass lyrically because it's made by dudes who smoke lots of weed when really the lyrical themes can be on a par with christian rock (I know it's also helped by pretty much all reggae not being on the unlistenably awful level of christian rock though)

Was Stella Sessions a weekly or monthly show, and when did it end?

Sounds like you're more pissed at bad and tasteless sampling than a Jah reference. Throwing it in because its the in-thing is tasteless sampling, its not to say people outside of Rastafarian religion can't use it in a tasteful manner. The Rastafarian movement in Jamaica b2b independence had a huge influence on Jamaican music.. Ska, Reggae, Dub.. and soundsystem culture. If you're making those styles of music in a modern day approach why would it be corny to add in a Jah sample? Its just a tribute to the roots of those styles of music.wolf89 wrote:I mean there's a difference between being into music that has nothing to do with your life style and making references to a religion you aren't a part of. I'd find it more corny if a true, practicing Rastafarian deep house producer stuck in a random Jah sample throughout a track than a middle class, white, English athiest guy producing roots dub music. Its all down to the music, not the beliefs of the producer behind the music.

Anyone been to Hysteria in Dalston?
Racking my brains trying to find a venue we could run our next event from as Plan B is booked till December.
Hit up Corsica, Birthdays and Dance Tunnel. Dont like Lovebox as a punter let alone running a night there and Silver bullets rep is up and down..
Bussey building but I think thats bring in your own system? Brixton jamm is 300 in one room so maybe.. PoW is 450 cap so huge for us.
Maybe Im missing some?
Tough.

What's the punchline of the joke that the guy at 0:58 says at the end of this video? Can't understand anything he says after "what about my change".
