and that was not enough apparently

these random monitorings of my calls are getting quite specific

I did that door to door charity sign ups thing for about two months while at uni. Worst thing ever. Did alright at it though somehow despite turning up to the door and obviously looking like I thought I was better than the job and with a general air of misanthropy about me the whole time.

ah i see, thought i was perhaps getting sympathy from jurkhands

i don't think charity is evil or raising money for charity..................but this involves calling a lot of elderly people on pensions that already make generous donations, many of whom feel upset and hurt that their chosen charity is asking them for more money nd there is an obligation to ask even when they have told you very personal information as to how it would be impossible for them to donate more

there are many times when i feel like i am manipulating and harassing people who are themselves vulnerable and frankly that does not feel good even if it is for a good cause

Yeah I went to an interview for one of those, I didn't know what it was prior it was just one of those "want to earn easy cash over the summer?" ads. Anyway-the reception was manned by three hotties but where was the workers/office space etc? I went into a dingy room and the guy interviewed me and made it like I was going to be part of the business etc "we'd like to offer you a place in the business" and all that baloney. I didn't take the job.

yeah you're getting sympathy man. although I'm happy enough nobody was monitoring my work the way they are yours. all they expected was me handing over 5 newly signed contracts a day. and that I did.

was actually quite enjoying it because I worked with loads of fun people and talking to a couple of dozen girls per day gets you laid A LOT. winter is shit though. and the work in itself sucks, obviously. but the nice thing is you can choose who you're talking to; so if you see someone's having a bad day you can avoid bothering them even more... first I was working under an agency, afterwards directly with Amnesty and another minor charity.
the fun part is how the agency / Amnesty provides flats for their street team(s). so you live with the people you work with, which can get a bit exhausting, but can be fun aswell. needless to say, it was hedonistic to the max. especially when I was working under the agency. imagine 16 flats, all in (more or less central) Zurich, 6 to 8 young, extroverted people in their early 20ies inside them. pay them around £2800/month and watch what happens. it's geordie shore with more drugs and better music.
all for charity, obviously.

Peter Singer argues everyone should donate as much money as possible, even if only 0.001% of the funds actually reach their designated destination... since it'd still be better than doing fuck all.

you don't necessarily have to be a pushy person when doing it on da streetz. some self-confidence and being nice and friendly goes a long way.

ah my bad, paranoid after this long day ahah, thought you were using a utilitarian argument to say the work itself is good, yeah that sounds like a nice set up, all the aspects of the job are good except the actual calls, the random element of it is properly not to my taste
just not knowing whether you'll get some furious person that's been called by 5 charities today or someone in their 90s that you really don't want to say yes to donating,
still think it's something you're gonna end up doing once in your life
