How would Dubstep sound if it didnt split off?

not dragging up old stuff, but as we older dubstep forumites remember in 2009 there was a split in the scene, what was called Brostep, which was an off shot of jump up drum n bass and Mutant Bass appeared, at the same time Burial and the 2step minimal side had been making massive strides..

and because garage was the foundation, future garage came out of postdubstep era and thats all now history.

so i wonder what modern non jump and down dubstep would have sounded like, would it essentially just be the future garage sound.

or would it be similar but with more traditional dubstep elements?

I always class the District, Distance, J:Kenzo, Killawatt, Biome, DJ Madd, Kryptic Minds sort of sound as being classic dubstep but moving forward. Then you have the burial, some Khan tracks, Pahelea, synkro being the future garage sound. I'm not a fan of the brostep off shoot. I like nearly all electronic music with the exception of that brostep crap and electro house

Without insulting them but they're holding the sound back.

Silkie, Quest, Prism, Heny G, Chord Maraurders to an extent are all actually bringing something new and loads others what are not on the top of my head.

Most of those you listed (maybe minus Kenzo cause he has some brilliant tracks) haven't been innovating for a long time but instead stuck in a certain head space with never really expanding on it.

None of them are making a new Glamma, Learn or Lion VIP. It don't have the energy of grime with the class and production standard of the genres merged to create dubstep. Its just snare on 3 and 1/4 hats over some wobbley bassline.

I see your point. I think I was lazily just thinking off sounds in between future garage and tear out. Brackles springs to mind as someone who pushes a different sound

I picked it up in CD for the car. £10 but better than what I was expecting. Does push a different style. Very dark. Considering I spent 12 quid on roska album I think its a bargain

Yeah was thinking of getting it for the car, did that with the Akkord album. If you haven't already, you should definitely listen to Beneath's RA mix. Got me more excited about music than any mix I'd listened to in a while when it came out.
