Bass Institute - Fallout Hype (Thricton Remix) [Dubstep]
Hello again guys, i appreciated the feedback on the last post and hope to get more on these tracks, as well as share this awesome song i remixed. Bass Institute is an awesome producer i met through the dubstep forums, he's an amazing person and i suggest you check him out on soundcloud or find him on the forums.
I've also put the style of dubstep along with a reference.

Mixdown is very LOUD...the mid range synths you've got going on are swamping the other elements in the tune, and making it hard to listen to. I'd suggest another look at the mixing to get the levels sitting a bit better, and make sure you haven't got too many elements fighting for the same frequency ranges.
Re: Bass Institute - Fallout Hype (Thricton Remix) [Dubstep]
oh i already know my mixing, to put it mildly sucks...i posted a thread a few days ago and and just looking at my producing atm, a few people helped point me in the right direction of tutorials on mixing along with Vst's that would help too....any suggestions on Tutorial videos, tips, Vst's, tricks would be greatly appreciated and would help out.
i guess i forgot to put that in about the mixing lol

also, my gear is shit, i have crappy speaker and i use a mouse and keyboard, no midi what so ever. suggestion on decently priced headphone monitors would be awesome...also are Beats headphones any good, got any experience with those?
Re: Bass Institute - Fallout Hype (Thricton Remix) [Dubstep]
Ah, no bother then
Yeah...practice makes perfect at the mixing. Nothing more to say to it than that. I try and think of the tune as a cube, with the listener at the centre. You've got XYZ axis of frequency range, volume, panning. Basically you want to fill the cube as much as possible without cluttering too many elements in a single area...if that makes sense?
What's your budget when you say 'decently priced' headphones?

Avoid Beats...they are not designed with flat response audio monitoring in mind (which is what you want)Thricton wrote:also, my gear is shit, i have crappy speaker and i use a mouse and keyboard, no midi what so ever. suggestion on decently priced headphone monitors would be awesome...also are Beats headphones any good, got any experience with those?

Re: Bass Institute - Fallout Hype (Thricton Remix) [Dubstep]
yes i know exactly what you mean, you dont want to shatter the cube =), and at the moment im busting the mother F#$^er up lol....i'd say my price range is around $200-$300...with $300 kind of pushing it...but if its worth saving up for something better i'd do that.
Why spend $300 if i can save up $500 and get some really awesome monitors, but im all ears.

Given your price range, you can get KRK KNS-8400's for $200 if you shop around.
However, if you can save for monitors, then I'd recommend monitors.

Re: Bass Institute - Fallout Hype (Thricton Remix) [Dubstep]
Definitely recommend the KRK headphones WUB is talking about. Do a lot of my producing on them. Only real problem with headphones is the panning. Can't seem to get that quite right without monitors.

The drop was kinda repetitive to me. maybe on the 2nd half of each part of the drop add some variations or other sounds. And the mixdown which everyone else already addressed. But other than that its a good song
