First of all, don't worry! This is not another wobble bass thread :!:
It is actually the opposite,
I've just started seriously producing dubstep and i'm wanting to move away from dull wobble basslines and create a fresh new bass sound. Sadly I lack the skill to do this all on my own so I was just wondering does anyone have any ideas for a new style of bassline that goes well with dubstep??

I would..

But obviously im guna be using em myself.

Best bet is just to experiment.

And dont think something sounds "too weird"

ive made sum DIFFERENT blines, and they work well within the track.

how many people in a coma could make decent track?

yeah, i agree with the way u can get a feel of the mass, girth and weight of a track. but this guy admited that he doesn't even have to skill to think of a way to make a bassline..

one tip is to start listening to tracks without a wobble. and see what theyre doing.

I didn't mean turn it off completely, just turn off the analytical bit that gets in the way. Just use your fucking ears, is the best way in which it can be put. You can analyse, but just not in THAT way. I personally try and put myself in a state where I'm not even aware that it's me at the buttons, so I can try and listen a little more objectively. Horses for courses, innit?

Best thing you can do is plug in a keyboard, set your drums on loop and play notes along to it and tweak the bass synth at the same time until you get something.

nah man, you get to a point where the technicalities no longer get in your way because you understand them so well you dont even think about doing them. by turning your brain off, hes referring more to a state of no-mind. not fumbling with knobs cos you "dont know what them synth shit does".

learn your gear/software till you dont have to think about how to make a sound or new timbre, because when you think about what your doing, you fuck it up.

werd. music is play. if it's anything else to you, you will never finish a track. Approach making bass with playful ness, yet with dedication and you will succeed!

You defo need to understand where the lfos are in your synth. Once you learn a synth tho they're all quite similar. I learned z3ta in about 10 minutes tonight.

Then I made a bass in z3ta.
