About the spam...
So the situation has unfortunately gotten out of hands and is really damaging gd. Maybe we can bounce some ideas off of each other to help the admins sort it? If that's needed at all, that is... Just trying to help a bit.
How about you limited the amount of threads a user can create in a certain amount of time?
Another approach would be to deny new users the possibility of opening new topics until they have five posts, although I understand this would be problematic for a number of reasons.
Force captchas, even though that's a bit of a hassle for all the other users. And since the posters presumably are human and not bots I'm unsure if such a thing would even counteract their activities.
Thoughts?

What spam?
Re: about the GD spam
I imagine you guys are thrilled to delete up to twelve pages of spam every morning.

Re: about the GD spam
One of the benefits of moving over to the new system is that we have greater control for dealing with spam.
We now have a one-click nuke user button which removes an account as well as deleting all of their posts. So it looks untidy in GD if no-one catches it immediately, but removing it is far less effort than it used to be.

Re: about the GD spam
Wub, are there backups of dsf? Of the old posts?
Re: about the GD spam
You mean the '+0041232324983 black magic for lovers in California' posts? Sorry mate, we don't keep those. You'll have to keep trying the little blue pill and hoping for the best.
Re: about the GD spam
Damn!

Was referring to dsf, the bulk of old threads and posts.

Re: about the GD spam
There are two trash forums where the majority of spam and problem threads were dumped prior to the new admin interface letting us nuke spambots. But for obvious reasons those aren't public.
Re: about the GD spam
Are you trying to misunderstand me? Is there a backup of dsf? If there were something to hit the db and wipe out all prior posts, could they be restored from another location?
Re: about the GD spam
DSF is software, in cyberspace.
There is no system core.
Judgement day is inevitable.

Watch how DSF are paying people/companies to visit and post on dubstep forum for ad revenue and it's just backfiring.
