Overall, I liked it. End before the paintings became a bit of an endurance test though.
there are interviews where Tarkovsky talks about how he started off as a poet and with that end sequence i think its really those poetic roots coming through , showing romanticized versions of the story he just told. the soundtrack at that point is just immense
but man, the whole jester sequence:

the beginning is genius too, i would even say in some ways this movie is better than Stalker
finally saw The Seventh Seal. good shit, Death was hilarious

gotta say though leyenda, i prefer Ordet. i realize this has a more believable story, but Ordet was just so simple but at the same time also just as ambitious, if not more
Down by Law, Jim Jarmusch. beautiful shots, great soundtrack, brilliant dialogue, a white pimp who actually pulls it off AND Tom Waits

highly recommended
also saw Moment of Innocence by Makhmalbaff. is a slow movie, but its content is easily the densest out of all 3 of these films, even denser than the Bergman in certain ways. great movie to watch for some food for thought on ideas of morality, whether anyone is really right or wrong
