Pykno - Oso | Dubstep (?)

Post by GeorgeZ » Fri Oct 03, 2014 7:10 am

Hi guys.

New tune's done, and it's bit of a funny one. Major key Dubstep... I think it's dubstep. As far as the melodies and stuff is concerned, I 'm pretty sure this one will be scorned, however, I'd like some feedback on the general production. I'm trying to get my tracks more polished and professional (compression, levels and whatnot-wise), so that's what I've been focusing on a lot lately. Backing off the compression to not distort (dat loudness war doe...) + having basses etc, however changing (these things can get messy you know), be at a +/- constant level ie not have one particularly poking out of the mix or having one obnoxiously low (not bad low, but just to the extent that you will listen twice and go "what's up with that... weird"). Sorry for the ramble, on to the tune:

Soundcloud

Cheers,
George

Nobody wins the loudness war. And when playing live it all get equalized through the turntables or mixing board so its better to just keep your dynamics. This song is loud enough anyway. You got skills I like some of the sounds and the whole composition is nice. It didnt bore me which says a lot. I love that little run at 2:39-2:40. you have a lot of cool melodic elements in this song. I think that main melody that plays with your bass on the drop should be redesigned slightly so it takes up more of the frequency spectrum. I think it would fill out your drop a lot more. Definitely keep at it bro. Good job

Thanks heaps for the feedback mate. Really appreciate it. I'll see what i can do about developing that lead sound a bit more ()an maybe the melody while I'm at it.

I dont have much to comment on, but I can say it sounds professional, it is unique to me. this dubstep track is quite "happy", i think its because of the melody, xD. I think the lead can be better, like the sound of it can be more wicked. Plus, you shouldnt put the lead at the beginning of the drop, imo, but its fine if you dont. Bumping this post since i think your track deserves more attention and feedbacks, keep it up bro
