You're pretty unaware of what urban art is and/or street art??? It's highly respected among contemporary and fine artists as well as dealers and collectors. Steeet artists (not vandals) are very much so considered the innovators in todays current art culture, world wide.
I personally stick to canvas.
The handstyle on those throwups is signature I'v seen this around Ontario.

go fuck yourself you condescending prick, nearly everything in this thread is pathetic that does nothing but bring down the areas its done in imo. No winners for guessing the "most amusing pastime for over 18's!"

but seriously how old are you lot doing this "graff"?

wow, still so much ignorance...

to those who say that doing graff, whether it be on canvas or street, is for people under 18, PLEASE tell that to SEEN, who is now in his forties and STILL painting. not only is he still painting, but any graff font or...well, ANYTHING graff related can all go right back to that guy. he started it all in 1973, with sick handstyle, 34 years later he is still doing his thing and is extremely successful because of it.

some of toronto's best writers are all well above 25, still hold down proper jobs, yet STILL find time to go out and bomb and paint murals!

saying you have to be a kid to still be doing graff is like saying you have be under 17 to enjoy that garbage they call jungle now-a-days...it makes no sense...people do what they want to do, when they want to cuz it makes them happy. no matter what their age.

some of the freshest shit out there is the 'ugly' stuff. street tagging and bombing is so much fun, some people will never understand. it's like, some people like bacon and eggs, some people like toast and coffee...some people like to go out and bomb, some people like to stay inside and read books...

can you 'haters' not see eye to eye with what makes people happy?

umm wow. I have to agree with Bob C here, how old are you lot??
the picture above appears to be on someones front door and has no artistic merit beyond a teenager with a spraycan. If you want to practice how "rad" your A's R's and K's look, can't you write them on a bit of paper or spray them onto something YOU own??
again I'll ask the question; HOW OLD ARE YOU LOT??????
I assume most of you are over 20 (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Graffitti done properly can be amazing but "tagging" is the lamest most childish manifestation of this. Why do you want to write your made-up name everywhere? Why not do 1 amazing piece of ART and put your name on that? surely more impressive.

It´s not about that name everywhere !
I had to stop bombing around 25ish, too many 24 hours shifts in the holding cell . . .

ITS ABOUT STYLE !
Most people I know have worked like 5-10-15 years to work up a set off letters that they feel is theirs! And if you look at a set of typefaces and compare it to a good tag, then you should bee able to see the complexity of lines and style and understand its all about style.

And the picture you have chosen to comment is probably not a very good example.
Anyway i would say if you look closely at the line at the A and the S, there should bee no doubt that ASEK have put in nuff work on paper !

try copy the style . . .

And keep in mind that bombing have an extra aspect, TIME.
Anyone can sit down at home and work hour after hour and get something right.
If you are out bombing you got one go! a few seconds of time.
TOTAL CONCENTRATION.

Can´t any of you skeptics see the style elements in this ?
Is it just a name on the wall ?

fuck "art".

the return of the paleolithic!!!!!!!!!!!

graff, ILLEGAL graff, is actually imho, THE ONLY GENUINE MODERN ART THERE IS.

all other so called art is commodity. and is essentially useless, especially while locked up in art prisons called museums & galleries.

so fuck "art".....

live life, and live it well past 20 lol...

imo it does nothing but bring down already desperate areas. Just cant understand how it be beneficial to anyone or anywhere?! I am interested in the ages of people doing this because i always assumed it pretty young kids, bored, fighting the system etc.....turns out i was wrong.

btw ive said it before, but i have no problem with well executed, thought out graffiti.
