I've just started watching Deadwood, Hannibal and the X-Files.

Will eventually finish The Sopranos and The Wire too, done about 3/4 of each.

I'm more unemployed than you.

Started Rick and Morty over the weekend. I figured it would be a lot of referencing, but it's
crazy how layered this show is. Social commentary wrapped in a parody of The Truman Show..
I'll have some of that :)

My lady's started watching Girls.

Is it me or is it an incredibly run-of-the-mill soapy sit-com that's been given rave reviews mainly because Lena Dunham isn't particularly hot and so there must be some massively deep reason for her to keep getting her tits out and putting herself in unflattering shots?

It's only really made me laugh a handful of times, but V's completely bowled over by it.

Reminds me a lot of Dawson's Creek, only I spent most of that praying to Jesus that Katie Holmes would take her top off.

I can see the quality in it like with madmen but the aim is off in the same way. It wants to be critical but the plot mechanics and devices pop out in your face and stand in the way of us getting to enjoy it fully. It's not fair to say that stuff happens in a way that pulls it all back to square one in every episode like a cartoon but almost.

The tall boyfriend is a great actor ... he was really good in the recent 'this is where I leave you' that I'd recommend.

Yeah, he's the best thing in it I think, which in a show called "Girls" is probably a slightly dodgy sign... :6:

I think what mainly gets me is that for all the media's hype about how it's redefining female characters on TV, 90% of the storylines seem to revolve around getting, keeping and losing boyfriends... or embarrassing themselves sexually with boys or occasionally girls. We're told Lena Dunham's character is a hard-working, struggling writer, but we never seem to see her write or hear her writing... we only ever really see that her workload puts a hilarious strain on her relationship with boys and that she prefers to have most conversations whilst getting changed. Even Sex & The City forced an intro and outro from Carrie's "column" to keep up the pretense that she actually worked once in a while.

Maybe I'm judging it too soon... but I'd take Orange Is The New Black over this any day.

I honestly thought that was one of the best directed scenes I'd seen on TV in ages. I kept rewinding the bit when she gets out of the cab and her phone rings... the way it fades in is so simple, but so perfect. Genuinely made me feel like I was twisted.

Actually, she's good from what I've seen of her in Girls too. I take a bit of it back.

Dunno, can't see YouTube from work, but the bit I'm talking about is about 3 seconds long, so I doubt it. Her whole experience on MD is amazing and for the most part hilarious, but that one shot just stuck out to me.

I'd recommend anyone watched this series tbh. I'm sure it's around for download somewhere if you haven't got Amazon Prime.

The only reason I keep watching it is to count the amount of WE'RE DONE and JESUS CHRIST LOUIS in each episode
