Re: The Gif Off
If you knew you were gonna have a child with no arms would you want to abort?

Re: The Gif Off
I just want to make it abundantly clear that someone's decision to do so would have nothing to do with the child's ability to be happy.

Re: The Gif Off
I don't know enough about Downes Syndrome to answer that, can they live on their own, or do they need a carer? Can they wipe their own arse, or do they just dribble on themselves all the time?travis_baker wrote: if you were down syndrome would you commit suicide?

Principle still stands. He's a dick because he'd rather kill his kid than to raise it to be happy in spite of its lack of arms.

Re: The Gif Off

Re: The Gif Off
Remember that dog that was born with half it's body?
That pup looked so happy.
So are you telling me it should be put down because of it's physical differences?

Re: The Gif Off
I wouldn't mind if I were aborted. Mostly because it's impossible to.
However, now that I'm alive.. I would mind if someone would put me down because
of my differences.
Making a conscious decision of having a kid and then deciding to abort it because it will
be born with a mental or physical handicap is immoral.
I think it's a bit odd to have a kid because you got pregnant, but this seems to be pretty standard.
It's what makes it a complicated matter to me.

I disagree, what if it's going to be a quadriplegic with severe mental health problems, you or your partner will have to quit your job just to be able to look after it, just try again imo.AxeD wrote: Making a conscious decision of having a kid and then deciding to abort it because it will

I don't see abortion as the massive deal some people make it out to be. I guess
in a case like that I would agree.
If it was real easy to check an unborn for all these things, it could become some kind
of selection process though.

I'd abort.

I don't think it makes you immoral, just a dick because you value your kid's arms more than their existence.nobody wrote:I disagree, what if it's going to be a quadriplegic with severe mental health problems, you or your partner will have to quit your job just to be able to look after it, just try again imo.AxeD wrote: Making a conscious decision of having a kid and then deciding to abort it because it will

Re: The Gif Off
Get off your high horse Ricky. I actually agree with nobody - if your baby is going to have any birth defect, you may as well abort and try again. By keeping a birth-defected baby you are depriving a healthy baby of a potential life, assuming you only want to have / can only afford x amount of children. It's a zero-sum game imo, in most circumstances, unless you're willing/trying to have as many babies as possible, then that's a different story.
But say I only wanna have one kid, and I learn it's going to have a birth defect. Going through with it forces another potential kid to never have a life, so abort imo.
That said, there's a big difference between abortion and forced euthanasia of the mentally or physically disabled, which ain't right obviously
