Micromanagers

Post by Jhonny2x4 » Wed Nov 12, 2014 2:18 pm

Kill them with fire!

I have had several jobs with these douchebags and it never gets any better. The three skills you learn are to keep your head low, suck up when they hover over you, and how to interact with someone who has both a mental and personality disorder.

What are micromanagers? Your personal boss?

micromanager is where you have a boss who scrutinises everything you do to the tiniest detail and is over your shoulder constantly either monitoring you or providing constant feedback on how you should be working rather than just letting you do your job

i dont believe in micromanagement

much better to give people training inw aht they need to do to do the role correctly then let them get on with it

make yourself available if they need to ask questions but let them find their own way

obviously this works better in some professions than anothers

Tbf, if they're going to the trouble of telling you what to do, then they probably want to keep you around.

Tell him he's suffocating you, don't come on here and complain about it. Set a meeting, and tell him how inadequate of a manager he is in as polite a way as possible. You won't get fired, beleedat

A manager at a nearby branch of my last school chain would take 5 minutes off people's lunch break every time they went out for a cig.

Pity there was almost nothing ever scheduled for the whole nine hour shift anyway...

for some reason when i read 'micromanager' I picture a truly tiny, adorable, yet angry manager. I'm talking like 6-10" here. Possible sitcom imo.

This was at a previous job *knocks on wood* but if you ever dealt with a micromanager, you would know your suggestion is the equivalent of: "Dont be stressed, just try and relax".

And why does that bring pleasure? You get the shit you want done without needing to do it all yourself, which you need those people for. No point in hiring someone if you're gonna do it all yourself, but there is a point in making sure that person knows what they're doing.

Why your boss is standing behind you, telling you to do something correctly, if you already are? Either you are doing something wrong, or your boss sucks in his job (or he's an idiot), no offense.

im not knocking the logic behind the thing you think it is.. not at all

the way people assert themselves from controlling positions, however,
is usually like this... and people that go for top positions or have been picked for a top position usually have that fault in their design

there's a dick like that in any workplace, because when unchecked that behaviour will always hit two birds with one stone..

thinking that he would have to do it himself is your fabrication btw

What? Are you not an employee? Do employers not hire employees to do the jobs that they don't want to or have time to do?
This is really just what it means to be an employee. I highly doubt this kind of behaviour goes on indefinitely, and if you have such a problem with this behaviour there's nothing stopping you from making that clear. Of course you should expect to face consequences if you ever fail to do so afterwards, but an employer who is certain that you can do your job won't tell you to do it. That's why they don't tell you do do stuff like breathe and wake up and stuff like that, unless you aren't breathing or waking up and stuff like that. Just reminding you of the essentials of employment.

If they didn't want you about they'd fire you instead of telling you the right thing to do in order to stay there. Just keep up the good work and get on with your day imo.
