Plates with problems

Post by funkywhisky » Wed Nov 12, 2014 12:16 am

Thought it would be a good idea to create an archive of these to avoid eventual surprises.

For example:

Truth - Amnesia/International (reaaaally low volume)
LAS - Uuha/Witch Doctor (crackles on witch doctor) <quite pricey if you don't have it by now though>

Anyway, hopefully will work.

etc.

i've heard of lots of problems with Haymaker / Revolution, which is why I haven't bought it myself. and apparently Untrue has some shitty presses too.

alternatively, my copy of Soundboy's Suicide Note is easily the best press i've ever listened to.

I don't know if it's all of the presses, but I can not cue up either side of Ups & Downs VIP / Flight VIP. Needle just skips back a groove everytime.

So many coki releases sound very underwhelming so I don't even think it's pressing issues.
I remember whining about Coki ‎– Bob's Pillow / Spooky and Coki ‎– Don't Get It Twisted EP doesn't sound that great. -

Just tossed my copy on for a quick listen, mine doesn't have any problems with playing/cueing. Don't know if it's a problem with different presses, I've got the gold one though.

Yep my copy of Haymaker sounds awful, same with Don't Get It Twisted EP 1.

Amnesia / International is a little quiet but no complaints from me re: sound quality. Just use the gain knob on your mixer...

Most of my dubstep records sound pretty damn good tbh

My pressing of Clouds - Protecting Hands seems a little off. Needle wants to jump on the vocal side.

Ultimate pet peeve - center label pressed into the run-out groove :(

my haymaker / revolution seems not as bad as everyone makes it out to be tbh, but it's not great, but definitely playable & enjoyable.

otherwise i think most my others are honestly fine as far as manufacture goes, wear & tear is a different story.

My LAS - Malfunktions sounds nowhere near as huge as the Viv rinse rip - less groove too

Commodo said that, asked what compressor they use cause his tunes sound loads better.

My copy of LAS - Witch Doctor has crackles too.. The Bug – Poison Dart - Pt. 2 vinyl is easily the quietest vinyl I own.. its the only one that turning up the gain fully isn't enough.. have to adjust the actual volume and lower the gain of the others. Its crazy how quiet it is.

Biome ‎– Propaganda / Dmt & Sully - Carrier LP are fucked as well.
