Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Sending within the half hour, if I can boot up my machine... I switched around some midi devices, and my system is NOT happy about it. Think I may have exceeded that 10 device max, even though I've only got 4 midi devices.
Went to bed last night and was going to feedback last weeks tracks with my laptop and phones, not the best, I know, my apologies, but I'm doing what I can, and my headphone port on my laptop went from bad to worse. Last thing I heard was Leg's video of that Yami vector synth.
I will get to that feedbacking for last week, and the other half of two weeks ago. I got over the great wall of Bud, but did not invade China. I'm coming for you China.
AND
Dudes, I'm leaving the SJ of the NOWAY. Am relocating to an undisclosed remote location. Will be breaking down the ol' studio here shortly, I should be back together mid/late January or early February. I will, of course, be trying to produce stuff for the TUNA! during that time. But my already patchy performance is only going to suffer. My commitment to TUNA! remains strong. I'll still be here critiquing what little I have to offer, with what little audio system I have. This laptop audio situation is bumming me out pretty majorly. Anybody have advice for dealing with a faulty 1/8th inch jack? I forget what y'all call them in mils, 3.5 or something. Looking at my laptop, there is a panel underneath pretty close to the jack. Maybe I can get in there and bend the tines back into place. I fucked this up working on a TUNA! while traveling in LA.
The TUNA! owes my laptop.
Okay.
and
you guys.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
ok feedback time
@legend4ry
TIME
mix is nice. dig the really deep sub
the kickdrum seems a bit
at parts? hm hard to tell like when the sub is away it sounds tiny bit wierd
but yeah really sound good so far
i guess i could say what i would do personally
i think a pitch shift in the vocals could add sth later or a double voc sth with the vocs
maybe give this melody another top level just double oktave or like incidence a bit higher later
dig this clock sound
especially cause its def not a sec haha
Police Sample
:3 nice vocal sample
kinda lofi/old vinyl approach?! maybe give the main drums tiny bit more highend? just tiny bit
grooves nicely dig those chords
i dunno hard to tell but maybe the melodies could get bit more in the front too? not much just enough to keep the dubby vibe
really good one too maybe bring bit more of the vocals towards the end if you have some more to use of the original acapella
i dunno personally i think you could bring a solo towards the end again
@defaultuzr
UTTER
nice atmosphere
kinda a game vibe like some of jizzmans stuff haha like indi games but i like those so its a good thing
with tunes like this i kinda need context to really apprechiate it like if this would be in a part of last of us it would def move me more than it is ably to do now but thats just me iam very audiovisual
nothing wrong with it really nice gives the listener a certain mood just saying try to find a visual counterpart for it and i bet it could raise the meaning of it alot

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
chkdsk has been running for 10 hours. Hundreds of thousands, millions, tens, hundreds, of millions of bad sectors, and no sign of stopping.
5 years of voice recordings with my daughter and fam, conversations, play, sound recording expeditions, my daughter was an avid sound recordist at age 6. I'm so upset, I can't even begin to tell you.

Mate - is it just windows corruption?
Isn't it being picked up on plugged as a secondary drive?
If you haven't overwrote sectors blank you should be able to clean up a lot of files.

Jebzus, I wrote a reply and my router went down as I was posting... Dudes, it is all hitting me at the same time. Everything is breaking. I won't even mention what is going on with our cars. We're also all sick, antibiotics and what not, and we just lost our house. Seriously. Enough.
Here you can critique my song for this week:
<soundcloud>the song starts with this bassy whole note bwah that starts in the center and choruses out to the sides over the duration of the note. Then four bars in a closed and open hat starts coming in which are sent to a weird delay buss, one side is under haas, the other over, with like a low feedback slap back sound, it's really part of the rhythm. They fade in and roll for 4 bars, then the drums come in, fully programmed, kinda hip hop of no era, four bars of that. Then the drop, in dance parlance, a fairly normal but a little weird arpeggioed middle high synth line comes in, that modulates over the next 16 bars... over the beat, hats, and bwah synth that just alternates whole notes from... what was it, like B to G (until it starts modulating), with a warbly zap synth every four bars, everything modulates at various points, then a break of 8 bars, redrop except arp synth is up an octave and now a longer synth is in its former octave, shit modulates, and then at the end, the bwah bassy thing stops, and a really kinda too phat moogish bass comes in for I don't know, 8 bars or 16, then shit just breaks down, bass comes out, drums come out, just those arped over long synths</soundcloud>

Thanks bud, I just want those recordings of my little girl back. When you have a kid, they go through stages, like really marked stages/personalities. And you fall in love with each one, but each one leaves you way too quickly. Photos and video yeah whatever, I lost that stuff, but the recordings are special, you can really capture people.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
did you make a clone of your harddrive ? than you have all the possible data saved before doing drastic stuff to get the rest of your data but its wierd that you got so many bad sectors
is the harddrive damaged form the outside or sth?
Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I don't know if chkdsk was drastic. I stopped it in the middle of its operation, I think it could have gone on for the rest of the week. I knew the drive was going bad, it was a bit fritzy. Like it'd take a sec to spin up or something. And no, no backups, no images. So, not only did I take this loss, I took it at my own hand, which is like a little ^2 to the pain.
I'm just going to pack the drive away, and after we get things sorted, and back on our feet, I'll see about getting the data restored. I'm seeing prices around $1,000. Didn't know it was so much. Hope I didn't fuck the data further by running chkdsk.

Noways you sound like you need a hug. I would come give you one, but I'm not travelling any more south west than london to hug someone I never met before, unless they got a vagina. Sorry bro.
Voice recording, tunes, and my house (rented) are the 3 things I wouldn't want to lose in this world. I have a recording of my nan when she had terminal cancer, joking and laughing with my nephew and niece. Probably my fav recording I have done, though I haven't been able to listen to it since she died, I would hate to lose that.
Hope you get your shit back, and get your shit sorted.

thats what i basically ment you can now try to fix the copy without destroying anything
or if you give it away for fixing you still have a copy with the exact same data

The sectors are not even readable, I don't think any tool is going to work... I'm thinking the platter is going to have to come out and go in another enclosure, and try from a different head.
You know what really did it, it just started really acting weird, like my computer went into a low power state after sitting idle for 15 minutes or something, and I heard it click/zip. And then it wouldn't wake. I thought there might be something funky, cause I had recently plugged in an old midi device, but in a different port, and sometimes that causes issues until all the midi elves work themselves out.
But that was an indicator, that click/zap and failure to wake, not really wake, but come to full power. Then, enters TUNA!, on Saturday night I was in a real bad way, I wanted to just render my song and upload it. I got myself to my studio, bent over to power it up, hit the power, and like a quarter second later realized my error, I couldn't physically do it, so powered it down. So the system just started to boot, for like a second and then shut it down... then the next morning, I booted up, and it booted funny, took a really long time, and then it was asking me if I wanted to format the drive. TUNA! has now cost me my headphone jack on my laptop, and my HD, all my family photos, video, and sound recordings. A sample collection started in the late 90's. All my songs for the past few years...
Who should I send the bill to?
