I can judge what I want, if I watch a film and one of the actors is shit, am I not allowed to say anything because I don't act?

maybe it's because our eyes are used to seeing coordinated, studied moves, where footworking relies strongly on improvisation. this is how I imagine the first breakdancers must've looked like to outsiders.

I can judge it imo, especially in a message board context like this imo. I see how fast it is, and Im sure there is a degree of difficulty to do this and im sure you need good cardio to do it. But my question is why? Like whats the appeal of moving like that, I dont find it aesthetically pleasing as a dance, the only thing I see is that its fast, and I feel like the battle aspect of this only happens because these people want to be b-boys but cant breakdance. Theres no consistent form or standard "move catalogue" that you can judge someones performance by, so from there its entirely subjective.. so why battle at all? I think its because black people are homophobic and need an excuse like a battle to be in a room with 20 guys dancing together at each other without fear of people potentially questioning their sexual orientation or loosely making hypothetical statements about what their respective mothers would or would not do for a bottle E&J.

That's what it's all about, if they enjoy it then great for them. Just like I'm sure those kids waving glowsticks around in I love dubstep t shirts are enjoying themselves, let them get on with it.

Won't change my opinion that they look ridiculous though

Yea man im not knocking them, they are free to do as they please and as long as they enjoy it then good on them. Im just not feeling the moves, I like the music tho.. maybe we should come up with a Stela-safe way to dance to it and I'll be into it. Truhed bopping is good, I just modify my tempo to match whats on, but I need some variant moves.
