Yeah I agree. Obviously music like burial, aphex, all the German dub techno takes itself seriously and is very good.
The best party music doesn't.
Then you've got all that music (I'm thinking macro plex stuff, keysound stuff) that takes itself seriously and tries to be proper club music. Buts just a bit shit. Not dancey enough and too boring for a club. Not musically good enough for home listening. Just background music.

not heard either of those tracks. ive heard dot2dot and im a creator and thought they were fairly straight forward. i get parodies becoming gimmicky and certain angles but the blending of genres when done correctly is just flavour where seasoning may be need, or, filling in all the corners and gaps between genres.

It's a sign of being speculative and lacking flavour.

There's no reason that you can't creatively expand a genres borders!.
But having a leg in two camps is just something else and that is a lot of the time, bad practise.

Like linking park (sorry bonerjam) or talking about cocaine and then having mariah carey doing the chorus

I love this tune, is this "serious" to you:

I also listen to like, Chick Corea and whatever which is probably 100x more "musically complex" than that is, but that doesn't make it more serious to me. That tune has such a vibe to me and you couldn't recreate that feeling in any other genre or at any other tempo IMO. I don't think it's lacking because it doesn't have the progression or strange time signature of jazz or something.

Buying my nephew's first proper football shirt would be so much more pleasant if he'd chosen the right team. At least it's only Liverpool and not Man City or Chelsea, I guess... kid's got some class.

Major happy it's not Chelsea, or Arsenal (just cause 90% of their fans I know are full on twats)

calm down though. music is creative and subjective. your opinion only matters to you and anyone that cares. judgement night is a solid album in my opinion and wouldnt appear gimmicky if i heard it first listen without knowing the background of any of the genres.

I think I layed out a perfect argument and that you kind of skipped through it.

and two step is a rythm not a genre.. and I've never really rated dubstep..

I think the video is pretty cool tbh, bordering on a Pc-music vibe, but it it fits the kind of strange hollow vibe of the tune to me.

The video for nine is kinda similar but a bit more fitting imo
