Does heart rate affect perception of tempo?

Post by staggalicous » Wed Dec 10, 2014 6:40 pm

Whenever i leave the gym, i usually listen to some sorta EDM driving home. It always feels a lot slower than it usually would. Does this have to do with the fact that i was just working out or the fact that i usually listen to Metal when i work out and has something to do with the genre change?

Kinda a weird question but does ne1 have any thoughts on this?

Same thing has happened to me! Listened to a mix whilst at the gym (a rare occurrence) and it felt gradually slower despite being 140 all the way through.

perception is something that can be easily manipulated.

I sometimes share the same experience when listening to music with a bonner.

yea m8 I expect that's why ketamine is so popular with the dubstep ravers, it mongs you out and makes the tempo way more hype cos your heart is about to stop pulsating

Yes. Conductors who drink coffee when they usually don't conduct faster.
