Mary Anne Hobbs Burial Untrue Preview
I know the feeling, had to go into audacity and start pitchshifting vocals into new melodies. When i'm in i listen again and when i am out i listen to my recording, i can't actually stay away from this mix for too long.Baron_von_Carlton wrote:I can't stop playing it and i have random dis-jointed vocals going round in my head constantly. Are there any Doctors in the house ?
4 times ive hit that listen again button
I would prescribe more burial for your entropic seratonsiltwiddling terratormentitis by the way.
And maryanne can get as excited about burial as she wants, good to hear people with passion talking about music they love

lol, yeah MAH's comments sound a bit ridiculous and overly gushing sometimes, but anyway i think i feel the same exact way about Burial's music.
it's not going to bring peace to the world or end global hunger or anything though.
one real complaint - 17 tracks in 15 mins? souneded like a jumbled train-wreck mess at some points. kinda ruin's the whole point of Burial's music which in my opinion is minimalistic "empty space" and atmosphere. too much hyperactive over-production in today's dance/electronic music (including dj mixes). edit: although i understand the point of keeping the tunes under a minute before the actual album drops.

When i first heard of it i thought that too, but burial's music is also about fleeting snatches of half-glanced things, so the style of the mix kinda fits in with that.tone.def wrote:"life will never be the same"

Amidst the gushing, i did find that the last 2 minutes aren't as good as the rest, but Feral Witchchild into Archangel into Endorphin into Etched Headplate is about as good as music could ever get, so not going to fault Burial or Kode for that. Again with the gushing
''Nice'' might be the word I'd use.masstronaut wrote: Nice tho in't it?
I'm looking forward to hearing the album. This mix was like the first Burial mix in that it sounded a bit like a mess to me, except more so because of the volume of tracks included in fifteen minutes. The funny thing is, now I listen to the first Burial mix I like it a lot more because I know the tracks as they are in full. Perhaps in retrospect I'll appreciate this one as well.
I just don't get that instant 'wow'/:o /
Anybody know the name of the tune with the sample "I told you", then it goes into this sick garage bassline and sinister beeps. It's in the last 2 minutes of the mix.
I know there's a tracklist, but as you know, it's all a bit jumbled.
Anyone clear this up? Kode? Blackdown? Definitely needs a release...
EDIT: I'm assuming it's that Speed Ball tune...

i use Audio Hijack. very very stable and easy to use.Overcast Radio wrote:I've got the show recorded and need to listen later. Does everyone know about Audio Hijack by Rogue Amoeba? I've been using that to record streams...works great. That Sub Swara/Skull Disco soundclash was sick too...finally listening to it. Heard some (not all) of the Burial mix...really rich. Ready for Vex'd tomorrow at Dub War?
I like that a lot. It's called passion and that's human. It's next to the innovating music one of the things that makes me locked to her shows every week.J.D.B. wrote:but mary anne hobbs talks some weird shit, kinda spoiled it
Here in Belgium we don't have a show of experimental electronic music and we certainly do not have a presentator with such a nice feeling for (this) music.
And last but not least, I like her voice. Most of the time when a presentator talks between the music it's annoying, but with Mary Anne it never is
Hello everyone,
First post for me...
I'm not really involved at all in any forum. I just check a few ones about real time mix for video and...this one.
Thanks to you all for all this links and informations about this amazing music.
One reason for me to decide to post something: BIG UP MARY ANNE HOBBS !!!
I listen to the stream from France, and I wish we had such a program here.
To me, the quality of the Breezeblock isn't just in the tracklist , but half percent of it is in the warmth of its presentation.
Even if some of us don't like it, we must admit that MAH has given a flavor to her show which is what is expected...
Robots wouldn't do it that way.
Have a good day every one
Steph

This is why it doesn't pay to be too negative on here, MAH gives a lot of herself to her shows and to come on here where she has a well established voice and slag her of is bang outta order. I'm sure most producers that don't post have a flick through as well including mr B himself - This album will be bought on site, big up 9 for a well delivered teaser and MAH for continuing to push the best undergound music!

Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?
