well yes, because these countries and their respective government were under strong western influence - take Iran for example. to be fair - in Syria and Lebanon, women can still wear short skirts. the term "middle east" covers a lot of ground that isn't as homogeneous as western europe. the "rise" of modern wahhabism (etc.) can be seen as a backlash against western imperialism, both geographic aswell as economic, but I think that's oversimplifying the issue - whilst Algeria was a french colony, sharia law ruled the muslim population. what would you make of that?DiegoSapiens wrote:that is what a friend of my father that was a business man there win middle east and told me that woman wear short skirts and all
