Yeah there was a an inlux of dnb produceers into dubstep at one point - matter of fact I think a fair few of them were ex-neuro heads come to think of it. Definately brought more of that "techboy" mentality to it. Unfortunately not everyone did as well as Kryptic Minds did at crossing over initially.

kryptic minds are pretty sick, badman vip was one of the first tunes i was really feeling in dubstep, but i don't really like their overall style and i kinda see them as having a really dubious legacy, opening the door for some dry fucking music,

but then again the simplicity and perfectionism, deep dark minimal blah blah, was also probably a natural reaction to brostep that was bound to happen

well many of them were once-dnb producers or still dnb producers. most of the early dubstep producers were garage guys prior to dubstep.

eg

Kryptic Minds
Seven
Amit
Proxima
Icicle
Killawatt
SP:MC
Skeptical

yeah, and those are the guys who don't really do it for me

some seriously seriously noteable tunes aside (hunted, dont forget your roots, trapped, trust nobody)

never got icicle at all

Well there you go. They're all pretty much interchangeable. Except Seven who is actually terribad.

Nomine's alright tho.

some of the neuro guys were p sick at first - like icicle, even km and sp:mc

amit is really boring now, both dnb and dubstep. i love some of his earlier tunes (white trash, sound warrior, gatecrasher, not to mention the never ending album) but fuck now he's just releasing the same tune over and over again imo
outrage/nomine is good but dungeon/neuro growls ruin his tunes for me (see searching)

as for dnb, kinda obvious that neuro v1.0 (teebee, exorcise the demons era source direct, trace et al) was much better. blacksciencelabs is quite possibly the dnb album imo

edit: re: amit
tunes like too many freedoms or true war really set the tone for his current stuff. or actually most of the halfstep dnb that was/is all the rage in the last 2-3 years

Searching is a bit weak and somewhat bland imo but Nomine's Sound is something else. I got instantly hooked on the first listen.
