Subloaded VII Aftermath

Post by spooKs » Sat Oct 20, 2007 9:35 pm

Finally, my first Subloaded - i'd been fantasizing about going for a long time so the Pinch album launch just made it even sweeter! Pinch's in-store in Rooted got me salivating for BASS and it more than delivered. By the way Pinch's album is definitely massive - full of soul, space and incredibly textured monolithic rhythms, I can't wait.

I got held up so got there just as 2562 was starting, only found out now that Peverelist had played before him! So gutted to miss that! But 2562 was everything I hoped for: skittering dubby techno rhythms, smashed out of shape into syncopated sub bass deepness. Played mostly his own material, serious talent (who knows about the 2562 'wobbler' if you've heard it you must know the tune i mean) - perfectly brought into context by the Horsepower Productions track he dropped near the end of his set - definitely a highlight for me.
Pinch then sent us hurtling into the underwater dancehall, amazing new music from that man - Bristol legend!
Mala and Loefah, needless to say, completely smashed the place up. Miracles left the crowd breathless, and I heard some classic-sounding Loefah tune that I'd never heard before, hope it's a new one.
Distance played a good set too, but because of a long one the night before by that point i was barely able to keep my legs moving, and had to find a 5am bus to get home in the freezing cold before Skream finished it off, shameful.
Out to Tronman, Boomnoise and the Peverelist attending.
I would have gone into the downstairs room with Iration Steppas and the Birmingham Crew Hytalbosrah more but to my surprise I genuinely couldn't take the amount of bass down there, it was properly hurting my ears!

Wicked night. I came up with some mates from the I.O.W and definitely got my dose of Bass presha for a few weeks. Loefah if your reading this, heavy heavy set, along with everyone else. Big up to those who put it on, maybe the best vibes in a dance ive ever been priviliged enough to experience. Stoked. (But still not feeling 100% right yet, ha ha!)

Another great subloaded, always delivers. Peverilist, 2562 , pinch were prob the most forward thinking sets, but also enjoyed loe and mala too ( just love that vibe that mala brings, great new tunes too). Downstairs was SOLID, that irration steppers rig is just so damn heavy, loved the bass massage.
Couple of downers though. Way too many e'd and k'd up students being downright fucking rude, pushing people around and not thinking of others. I know this is to be expected this time of year, but i've never noticed such selfish behaviour before at a dubstep event. Yeah, i know i sound like an old tnuc (i am), but if the increased popularity of dubstep means this becoming the norm, i'm only gonna go to the small intimate nights. This was also the first time in a club since the smoking ban and i found it really tough, the ridiculous setup at clockwork (queing to be let into a cage down a back road) didn't help. After a while i just thought fuck it and started smoking on the dancefloor like a lot of other people.

overall the music was superb, top notch, and made the whole thing bearable. Big up rob for all his hard work, and big love to all the people i spoke to; boomnoise, pete bubonic, mala, tom peverilist...

He played a couple like that, the one i know is called ' the v ' Big tune. He's a bit of a old metalhead by all accounts?

Damn good night...Pinch then DMZ and Loefah smashed it (agree about that sick vibe mala brings) and just about managed to stick around for the late skream, who carried on the big vibes whilst necking back the stella..didn't think he was gonna shop up but very glad he did. Distance played a proper stonker of a set and all.
My only wish was that upstairs could have been as loud and bassy as downstairs?
Agree about the annoying amount of ket heads...I told myself the next one who stumbled over my sneakers and spilled my red stripe all over me would get a slap! I saw just about the most intoxicated person I have ever seen, eye balls rolled back like a zombie, no control of the legs etc...went up to one of the iration steppas and started stroking his face outside... man wasn't impressed!
Nice to see smoking laws aren't too thorough
