Re: Gear lust
I've got 5 stereo channels of compression, 10 compressors, and I was still looking at budget comps the other day. If you ever see a 3630 for the cheeps, let me know.
Re: Gear lust
I've been gear lusting hard lately. First time in a few years. Trying to decide between a TR-8, a Korg MS-20 mini or the MicroBrute + Arturia BeatStep combo. Probably getting that BeatStep regardless.

Re: Gear lust
the the 3630 not just completely useless?
Re: Gear lust
I partially bought it because its a part of dance music history. I also may see about getting it modded. Maybe not ...wanna see if its usable at all. Mostly bought to use as its been used...for sidechaining. The it implements sidechaining in the hardware world is gery handy. ..Samuel_L_Damnson wrote:the the 3630 not just completely useless?

Re: Gear lust
MicroBrute is my favorite hardware synth. I think it needs some FX to bring it alive...its really raw and dry one its own...but fantastic feature set...remember it has its own sequencer.mks wrote:I've been gear lusting hard lately. Re: Gear lust
Yeah, bought that minibrute after it was announced at namm, waited a long time to take delivery. When it finally arrived, I was in a different flow. It was dope, but not really, like, life changing dope. Sold it, and then the microbrute came out, and I swear it is a better synth, all said and done.

Moog Sub Fatty for $630 no shipping. Sounds like a good deal.

Re: Gear lust
Oh yeah, the Moog Minitaur is on list as well. The builds of those Moogs just seem so solid. The Korgs don't feel as solid as the Moogs.
The BeatStep plus the Minitaur would be so much fun.

Re: Gear lust
It's a 16 step sequencer, but you can change how many steps it plays. The knobs at the top can be used to control the pitch of the notes. Clock signal from both midi and cv. Dope! At $99 there is no reason for me not to get it. I have an old Yamaha CS-5 analog synth that has no midi, just cv. I would like to wire that thing up with the BeatStep.

Re: Gear lust
I was only asking about the 3630 Cos its digital and I heard it clicks a lot when the compressor bites. Basically read loads of bad reviews ahahaha. I guess that sort of thing would just be for fuckong things up aha
Re: Gear lust
^ really and truly, all sound is aesthetic, people can like any type of sound. The sp 303, 404's are hardly high fidelity, and they're a cornerstone instrument to a whole genre. The 303's and first 404's compression in particular was not what any audio "professional" would call good. But to me, and many others, it sounds great.
