This summer I did a couple camping/battery powered production trips. Didn't go all the way to where I wanted to be setup wise, but I was out there.

sp-404sx + MicroKorg + a little laptop + Headphones. All battery powered. I had a couple of solar battery chargers but they both fucked up. I swear that shouldn't be so hard, but it is. I guess I just gotta spend more...

looks like the control panel for a tie-fighter; im down.

Interested to see more info on this thing surface, esp programming patches. I also wonder what the DAW integration is really like or if it just acts as a standard midi keyboard.

Damn!! Can't wait to learn more. A return of the JD series. I've heard through the grapevine that this was a really good synth. From the last era that Roland actually made good synths.

Thought that akai rhythm wolf is regarded as the lowest form of garbage.

Yeah, I'll take a JD-800, if you have one to spare. :)

I dunno. It had a lot of problems. I think if it didn't have the tuning issues et al...it would haven't done a bit better. It was a nice idea. TBH...if I were Akai...I would have said fuck it to the bass synth part and just made the drum machine...

I don't know anything about it, just know people talk about it like it is the lowest trash.

And that's what they did. I know the Rhythm Wolf wasn't very well regarded, but maybe they got it right this time. Akai has a way higher track record with me than Roland from the last 15 years.

That Timbre Cat is going to be a 4 voice analog polysynth in a market already saturated with analog mono synths. All 4 voices can be sequenced separately or they can be combined. Akai could pull this off maybe. My last musical purchase was an Akai, and I'm liking that machine.

edit: 32-step sequencer too!!

Jokes aside. I completely agree here. For the projected price (think it ends up being 600 USD...which probably means more like 500USD street)...I'd give it a shot! The tuning issues on the Wolf give me pause...but I can't believe they'd make that mistake a second time...

Akai comprises almost all my midi controller devices right now, and I like them all. Shit, looks like I have an MPK-49, an APC-20, an APCmini and an LPK25 in my lab right now. They always tuck some hidden secret weapon in there.

The LPK25, I bought it because it was functional. It was small and I needed a keyboard controller to compose with on the go. Guess what? They also threw in the arpeggiator from the MPK series, and this is a seriously little badass midi controller for like $60 new and that was a few years ago.

I bought the mpk49 to have pads and keys. If I used the pads, I'm sure it would break the board in two, over time. I had to go out and buy a padkontrol for pads. Feel like Akai burned me on that one. I did REALLY like the apc40. That was a solid bit of kit. Really wish I had it back. Luckily, they've lost almost all of their value, so I can buy it back for peanuts. I took a beating when I sold it, though.

I haven't seen the timbre cat yet, lemme check it out.
