On the most recent lineup there’s a whole lot more techno and drum and bass involved. That’s not what this is about... There’s nothing about techno that says soundsystem.

You are reading in between the lines a bit, the main point he was trying to make was that we need( he wants to) to cultivate 'local' (national) talent.
Its not crazy that Joe doesnt know about or want to push techno and DnB either... I think its rad that he's making a stand for what he wants to hear and what he wants to push. I would question a joe nice that was pushing 130 and DnB much more than the same Joe Nice that's been pushing quality dubstep for a decade now.
Can't really fault the man for standing his ground on what he wants. Not like he's saying techno and DnB are 'bad', just that he doesnt want to be involved with it. I fully agree with him tbh, there are so many talented dubstep producers and djs coming into their own in the US right now; its time to push them forward and give them slots. There are super super high quality DnB and Techno parties going constantly in the US.
(im drunk right now, so i'm sure some of you weenies will find more holes in what im saying than a slice of swiss cheese)
